Assistant Director, Curriculum Design & LearningTechnology (CDLT)

Job Summary

The job holder (2 years contract) reports to Director CDLT and is part of the management team that evaluates emerging pedagogy and technology related to education including implementing viable technological tools to enhance teaching and learning. The job holder will work closely with both internal and external stakeholders to ensure that the curriculum and content development are developed successfully, and any learning technology adopted are with continuity through the provision of training, and the creation of self-help resources for users to enhance learning and good learner academic performance. The job holder is expected to work from 8.30 am to 6.00 pm on weekdays and may be required to work over the weekends and Public Holidays to support MENDAKI’s events. Although the job holder is largely expected to work in an indoor environment, he is also expected to travel frequently for meetings.

Key Responsibility Areas

Curriculum Development

  • Design and manage development of innovative, outcome-focused curriculum materials aligned with educational objectives and industry standards.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to ensure curriculum content is current, engaging, and pedagogically sound.
  • Recommend and integrate the learning technologies, including Learning Management Systems (“LMS”) and other educational tools, to enhance curriculum delivery and students’ engagement.
  • Manage all instructional designs, employing evidence-based practices to create effective learning experiences.
  • Manage the development of multi-media elements, including graphics, videos, and interactive components, to enhance instructional content with graphic and video developer.
  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies and trends in educational technology to inform strategic decision-making and evaluate the pedagogical affordances.
  • Manage storyboards and prototypes to outline the flow and structure of instructional content.
  • Ensure curriculum designs are based on feedback and usability testing to enhance the learning experience.
  • Make data-driven decisions to continuously improve curriculum content and delivery methods.
  • Check that all multi-media elements are integrated seamlessly into the overall instructional design.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including educators, technologists, and administrators, to ensure seamless integration of technology into the curriculum.

Curriculum Review & Evaluation

  • Establish and enforce quality assurance processes for curriculum and instructional design, ensuring a high standard of excellence in educational content.
  • Manage needs assessments to identify gaps in knowledge and skills and determine the most effective instructional strategies to address them.
  • Conduct regular assessments and evaluations to measure the effectiveness of instructional materials and technology tools.
  • Ensure that curriculum materials and learning technologies comply with relevant educational standards, regulations, and accreditation requirements.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather input and feedback for continuous improvement.
  • Utilise data analytics to assess the impact of curriculum and learning technology on students’ learning outcomes.

Competency Development

  • Develop and implement professional development programmes for educators and instructional designers, focusing on the effective use of learning technologies and best practices in instructional design.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders, providing updates on curriculum development and learning technology initiatives.
  • Conduct training sessions for educators and administrators on the effective use of learning technologies and newly developed curriculum materials.
  • Mentor and guide instructional designers in the development of engaging and interactive instructional content.
  • Participate in or lead special projects as required.

Team Management

  • Effectively lead,motivate, and managethe staff underhis charge and foster a positive work environment.
  • Delegate responsibilities, set performance indicators, and conduct performance evaluations to ensure the Team’s success in meeting organisational objectives.
  • Manage the budget for curriculum development and learning technology initiatives, optimising resources for maximum impact.

Requirements

  • 8 – 10 years of related curriculum development, instructional design and learning development experience as well as learning technology.
  • Experience with LMS and tools for learning (e.g.Articulate 360, Google Suite).
  • Preferably had a master’s degree in MA (Instructional Design & Technology) or MEd (Learning Sciences & Technologies) or equivalent.
  • Good understanding of youth, educationand working landscapes.
  • Proficient knowledge of instructional design and current learning pedagogies and technologies.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to manage stakeholders across different levels.
