As we approach the second quarter of the year, it’s a good time to start taking stock of your year and reflect how good it’s been. Some of us may have had a challenging start to 2018 so take time for some, self-care. Itis of utmost importance though usually taken for granted. Everybody needs a positive outlet. For those of you who are trying to adapt to new environments or are just trying to hang in there, here are some easy ways for you to destress! And they’re free!
1. Journaling

journal.jpg No, journaling isn’t only for girls. You may find it extremely therapeutic. One great way of journaling is to refer to daily journal prompts such as “One thing I learned about myself today” and “A mistake that helped me grow”. Pick a topic for a different day and pen it down. You can find many journal prompts here.

2. Work out at your nearest mall

mall workout_ST.jpg Organized by the Health Promotion Board (HPB), work out for free  – yes you read that right, FREE – at a mall near you. Ranging from kickboxing, pilates, zumba, to piloxing, get your gear on! These sessions are brought to you weekly. Check out their schedule here.

3. Own the streets on Car-Free Sundays!

Car-Free Sunday SG.jpg Walk, jog, or cycle on the roads as roads closed from 8am to 12 noon, and experience the city in a whole new way. There are also a slew of activities ranging from outdoor workouts, food bazaars, heritage tours and activities for both adults and children. A great opportunity to bond with family and friends, the next Car-Free Sunday will be on 29 April 2018.  Check back here for the programme of the day.

4. Go museum-hopping

Singaporeans have free access to all six national museums. Why not take this opportunity to soak in Singapore and Southeast Asian art, heritage and history. You may  even  relive your childhood. The Singapore National Museum will be holding a photographic  exhibition featuring iconic playgrounds all the way back to 1930s. You will also get a chance to  take a peek at playgrounds of the future. The exhibition will be on from 20 Apr to 30 Sep 2018. Check out other ongoing exhibitions!
5. Watch movies under the stars

Moviemob2.png Grab your friends, a picnic mat, and pack some bites as Movie Mob brings you one of the best outdoor movie experiences for free. Screenings take place at different locations in Singapore and are held every two months. Check back on their Facebook page for where and what will be screening next!

6. Watch a concert at the Esplanade

With a backdrop of the sea and the breath-taking skyline, there’s always a spectacle at the Esplanade waterfront when music and lights come on. Check out the ongoing free performances and art exhibitions here!
7. Go for a guided tour of Singapore’s first marine park

Conducted twice a month, the guided tours are carried out by NParks. At low tides, you’ll be able to spot an extensive biodiversity from giant clams, to moon snails, green carpet anemone, hairy crabs and sea cucumbers. You can register here!
